Loft
- Your account
- 12‑word recovery phrase
Shown once, during setup.
The waitlist email is only for beta invitations. It isn’t tied to your Loft account.
What we ask for
- During the private beta, an invitation code, to create the account
- Three words from your saved recovery phrase, to confirm you wrote it down
What setup doesn’t ask for
- Your name
- An email address
- A phone number
- A photo of an ID
Your account has a public account ID. Loft is designed so knowing it doesn’t grant access to the account or your files.
No name or email doesn’t mean nothing can point to you. Your IP address, payments, support messages, and retained metadata can still be linked to a person.
How you get back in
Twelve private words are designed to restore your account and your encrypted files. Write them down and keep them somewhere safe.
Anyone with the words can get in. Never share them.
If you lose the phrase and every trusted Mac, nobody can restore access, not even us.
Loft is designed so your recovery phrase is never stored. It isn’t shown again after setup. A Mac you already use still opens the account. That Mac cannot rebuild a lost phrase.
Adding a new Mac
On a new Mac, enter the recovery phrase. A Mac you already use opens the account without it.
Getting back in doesn’t use an invitation code.
Signing out removes this Mac’s saved account access. Remote files stay stored, and signing back in takes the recovery phrase. Copies already downloaded or exported can remain on that Mac.
Billing email
A billing email is optional and is never used to sign in.
Loft is in private beta. A security review comes before release.
